Corton Charlemagne 1992 Thomas-Moillard

11/95. Acquired from Nuits-St. Georges Dec-94 for $32 (imported for $43 net).
Tonight we took this bottle to our favorite seafood restaurant in Tel-Aviv.
COLOR: Medium straw yellow.
NOSE: At first a little shy, but with time excellent bouquet of minerals, pears, a bit of petrol and wet stones.
TASTE: Very rich and full of flavors. Still quite close with a touch of bitterness at the finish. Not much fruit on the palate, but multi-layered and complex. I rarely commit infanticide, but there is no doubt that is exactly what we did this time.
LENGTH: Moderately long aftertaste that begins with the bitterish finish and becomes smoother and more pleasurable after a few seconds.
TEXTURE & BALANCE: Elegant and complex. Wood is definitely there as well as plenty of substance. Not particularly fruity and not much acidity to support very long life. Three-four years is what I think this wine needs in order to reach its peak.
OVERALL: Excellent wine that needs more time to fully express itself. At the price, a truly fantastic value.
MARK: 17/20.aaaaaaaaBUY MORE? Yes.
