Musigny 1983 G. Roumier

2/96. Bought in auction Oct-95 for $130 (imported from Chicago for $140 net).
Tonight for family (mother, brother et al) lunch of Fondue Bourguignon. Exalted vineyard, from a problematic vintage. Roumier's '83 wines are among the best of the vintage.
COLOR: Mature Burgundy color. Variable brownish hues, noticeable paling towards the rim.
NOSE: Faint yet discernable cherry fruit amidst a superb mature (B) nose. Enticing!
TASTE: Very tasty, obvious dry plums flavors. A bit dried out though.
LENGTH: Moderately long, very good aftertaste.
TEXTURE & BALANCE: Full bodied, 13.5% alcohol, reasonable structure and balance, but a bit lacking in flesh.
OVERALL: Excellent wine, though a little past its prime. Somewhat less concentrated than its cousin Bonnes Mares from the same source and vintage.
MARK: 17+/20.aaaaaaaaBUY MORE? No.
