Ch. Lamartine (Cahors) 1992 Gayraud & Fils

7/97. Bought locally July-96 for $32.
If an imported wine costs in Israel $32 it means it sells for around $10 in civilized countries. Has anyone heard of this one?
Don't have much experience with Cahors and this bottle did nothing to encourage more...
COLOR: Medium-deep ruby with some clearing around the rim.
NOSE: At first, nice though timid aroma of black fruits with faint tones of licorice. In about half an hour even that went away.
TASTE: Rough, 'unclean' taste. Not really offensive but neither complex nor pleasant or tasty.
LENGTH: Never noticed :-)
TEXTURE & BALANCE: Medium-bodied, harsh and tannic. That being said, the wine is not completely unbalanced. Noticeable fruit and acidity.
OVERALL: Dull wine. Does not even seem to be carefully made, in spite of the "Mis en bouteille au Chateau" claim on the label...
MARK: 15/20.aaaaaaaaBUY MORE? No.
