Gran Fuedo Reserva "VV" 1995 Chivite

4/01. Bought locally, Apr-01 for $17.
A simple and really inexpensive wine that we opened to go along with a nothing-special mid-weak dinner.
I know nothing about this wine from Navarre (Spain), except it must be really cheap anywhere else if we can get it in Israel for only $17.
COLOR: Medium dark violet red. Some clearing around the rim and no sediment.
NOSE: Surprisingly complex and very pleasant. Semi ripe black and red fruits together with that unmistakable slightly dusty Tempranillo aroma. Very forward but in no way simple or one-dimensional.
TASTE: Quite delicious and certainly better than what I expected from a wine in this price range! Sweetish fresh fruit, excellent winyness, reasonable depth and complexity with pleasant acidity and soft tannins. No 'greatness' here, but a real good food wine that is very enjoyable.
LENGTH: Ok, so this is not a Vega Sicilia...
TEXTURE & BALANCE: Medium-light body, very accessible wine. Not lacking in flavors, winyness or complexity. Nicely balanced too.
OVERALL: Very Good. Really nice wine and a great value for its price.
MARK: 17/20.BUY MORE? Yes.
