Tignanello 1990 Antinori

6/2002. Bought at auction, Oct-98 for $150.
With about 80% Sangiovese and 20% Cabernet, Tignanello is one of my favorite Super Tuscan wines. All the more so since the vineyard of Tignanello was spread outside my window for a whole week in October 2000.
COLOR: Medium ruby-red. Some clearing around the rim and plenty of sediment inside the bottle.
NOSE: Soft and somewhat subdued nose of high quality. Ripe red and black fruit with discernible earthy elements like raw meat, balsamico and mushrooms. Wood notes are there but not overpowering.
TASTE: Classically elegant on the palate. Velvet fruit in front with depth of flavors behind. Wonderful winyness with good acidity. A bit tannic at first but smoothed out after a short while. Extremely tasty wine of beautiful proportions.
LENGTH: Medium long and sweetish aftertaste.
TEXTURE & BALANCE: Medium-full bodied and fine textured wine. Superbly balanced with all ingredients in harmony.
OVERALL: Superb. Close to its peak now, though I think in a couple of years it will become even better.
MARK: 18.5/20.BUY MORE? Yes.
