Domaine du Castel 1995 E. Ben-Zaken

8/02. Bought locally, Apr-98 for $30 (current market price $43.
Definitely the best wine made in Israel. A Bordeaux-type melange of Cabernet and some Merlot, made by the conscientious Eli Ben-Zaken.
COLOR: Medium violet-red. Noticeable clearing around the rim. Some sediment left in the bottle.
NOSE: Very nice nose of ripe fruit and some complex secondary elements. Not a huge nose, but quite enticing.
TASTE: Really tasty on the palate. Mature fruity flavors with good concentration, fine grip and some depth. Silky and elegant - extremely pleasant.
LENGTH: Medium long reverberating aftertaste.
TEXTURE & BALANCE: Medium body. Well focused and well balanced.
OVERALL: Fine. Probably around its peak now.
MARK: 17.5/20.BUY MORE? Yes.
